I believe GZIP works on Linux natively with the gzip command, but there's no service that works cross-platform, and especially none that work offline, client-side. ![]() Does any other service/app have this feature?Īs far as good UI/UX goes, there's nothing like this. Something along the lines of squoosh.app/text where users can drag and drop text files and see the compressed sizes. Having a version of Squoosh made for compressing/encoding text files purely on the client side would be perfect. I want an easy way to estimate how large each file is after GZIP/BR/BZIP2 compression so I can let the user know how much internet bandwidth they'll be using. But I can't simply sum up the raw sizes because sites like Netlify help by GZIP'ing these files. I work on a PWA that requires me to download multiple files on the client side, each one being approximately 50KB large (raw). ![]()
